| Kaleidoscopic Image | Circuit of Rituals | Rashomon |

Based on the Kurosawa film of the same title, this technique provides the opportunity to see the same scene played from the perspective of all characters in the scene. A protagonist stages a scene which is then improvised. The protagonist then sculpts distinct images and positions of each character as he or she perceives them, placing herself in the scene as well. The scene is replayed with these images guiding the improvisation. Each of the other characters in the scene does the same as the protagonist - first making images of how they felt their character perceived the other characters, placing themselves in the image, and then re-improvising the scene. (For full description of technique see Boal 1995: 115-117)
